Pongal celebrations 2026

Sustainable decorations and active participation of students in various Pongal events and games.

Pongal Celebration 2026 was inaugurated by Shri Ar. S Velayudham, Joint Secretary, with vibrant participation from students and faculty members. The event beautifully blended tradition, sustainability, and cultural expression, transforming the campus atrium into a lively festive space that reflected the spirit of Tamil heritage.

The Sustainable Venue

The venue was thoughtfully decorated using eco-friendly and natural materials such as banana leaves, lotus leaves, sugarcane stalks, straw bundles, earthen pots, fresh flowers, and handmade garlands. A traditional Pongal pot arrangement placed over a colorful kolam (rangoli) at the entrance. The decorative backdrop made of layered natural leaves demonstrated creativity and sustainable design practices. Traditional elements such as decorative displays symbolizing cattle and agriculture emphasized the importance of farming in Tamil culture.

Cultural performances formed the highlight of the program. Their synchronized movements, expressive gestures, and rhythmic steps brought life to the celebration. The audience enthusiastically cheered from different levels of the atrium.

The event had a group photograph featuring students and faculty members, symbolizing unity, cultural pride, and collective joy.
